AutoCAD/AutoCAD LT 2016 Essentials

The objective of AutoCAD®/AutoCAD LT® 2016 Essentials is to enable students to create a basic 2D drawing in the AutoCAD software. Even at this fundamental level, the AutoCAD software is one of the most sophisticated computer applications that you are likely to encounter. Therefore learning to use it can be challenging.

AutoCAD/AutoCAD LT 2016 Essentials covers the essential core topics for working with the AutoCAD software. The teaching strategy is to start with a few basic tools that enable the student to create and edit a simple drawing, and then continue to develop those tools. More advanced tools are also introduced throughout the training guide. Not every command or option is covered, because the intent is to show the most essential tools and concepts, such as:

  • Understanding the AutoCAD workspace and user interface
  • Using basic drawing, editing, and viewing tools
  • Organizing drawing objects on layers
  • Inserting reusable symbols (blocks)
  • Preparing a layout to be plotted
  • Adding text, hatching, and dimensions

Prerequisites:

A working knowledge of basic design/drafting procedures and terminology
A working knowledge of your operating system

AutoCAD/AutoCAD LT 2016 Fundamentals

Duration: 5 days

The AutoCAD®/AutoCAD LT® 2016 Fundamentals training is designed for those using AutoCAD® or AutoCAD LT® 2016 with a Windows operating system.

The objective of AutoCAD/AutoCAD LT 2016 Fundamentals is to enable students to create a basic 2D drawing in the AutoCAD software. Even at this fundamental level, the AutoCAD software is one of the most sophisticated computer applications that you are likely to encounter. Therefore learning to use it can be challenging. To make the process easier and provide flexibility for instructors and students, the training is divided into two parts that can be taken independently.

Part 1 (three days) covers the essential core topics for working with the AutoCAD software. The teaching strategy is to start with a few basic tools that enable the student to create and edit a simple drawing, and then continue to develop those tools. More advanced tools are also introduced throughout the training. Not every command or option is covered, because the intent is to show the most essential tools and concepts, such as:

  • Understanding the AutoCAD workspace and user interface
  • Using basic drawing, editing, and viewing tools
  • Organizing drawing objects on layers
  • Inserting reusable symbols (blocks)
  • Preparing a layout to be plotted
  • Adding text, hatching, and dimensions

Part 2 (two days) continues with more sophisticated techniques that extend your mastery of the program. For example, here you go beyond the basic skill of inserting a block to learning how to create blocks, and beyond the basic skill of using a template to understand the process of setting up a template. You learn skills such as:

  • Using more advanced editing and construction techniques
  • Adding parametric constraints to objects
  • Creating local and global blocks
  • Setting up layers, styles, and templates
  • Using advanced plotting and publishing options

A working knowledge of your operating system

AutoCAD 2016 Update for AutoCAD 2015/2014 Users

Duration: 1 day

The AutoCAD 2016 Update for AutoCAD 2014 & 2015 Users training teaches the new and enhanced features introduced in the AutoCAD® 2015 and 2016 software. Topics covered range from general improvements and command enhancements to 3D modeling and collaboration enhancements.

Among the many changes in this new release are the general interface components including: Start Tab, interface color scheme, tab and panel enhancements, Autodesk A360 collaboration, Model Space Viewports, and Help. There are several updates to commands, such as dimensions and various 3D tools, such as Point Clouds, Rendering and editing previews. Topics include:

  • Interface enhancements
  • Command preview enhancements including Blend, Erase, Rotate, Scale, and Stretch commands
  • Dimension enhancements
  • Point Cloud enhancements
  • Rendering enhancements
  • Customization updates in the Cloud
  • Design Feed palette
  • Autodesk Exchange enhancements
  • Direct access to Autodesk A360 (Cloud)

Prerequisites:

This training assumes familiarity with the AutoCAD 2014 or 2015 software.

AutoCAD 2016 Advanced

Duration: 3 days

AutoCAD 2016 Advanced introduces advanced techniques and teaches you to be proficient in your use of the AutoCAD® software. This is done by teaching you how to recognize the best tool for the task, the best way to use that tool, and how to create new tools to accomplish tasks more efficiently. Topics covered:

  • Advanced Text Objects
  • Working with Tables
  • Defining dynamic blocks and attributes
  • Outputting and publishing files for review
  • Collaboration and automation tools
  • Creating, publishing, and customizing sheet sets
  • Managing Layers
  • CAD Management and System Setup
  • Enhancing productivity by customizing the AutoCAD interface
  • Using macros and custom routines

Prerequisites:

Completion of AutoCAD®/AutoCAD LT® 2016 Fundamentals or equivalent

AutoCAD 2016 3D Drawing and Modeling

Duration: 3 days

AutoCAD® 2016: 3D Drawing and Modeling introduces students who are proficient with the 2D commands in the AutoCAD® software to the concepts and methods of 3D modeling. The training provides a thorough grounding in the fundamentals of 3D and explores the main features of the advanced 3D Modeling workspace in the AutoCAD software. Topics include:

  • 3D viewing techniques
  • Working with simple and composite solids
  • Creating complex solids and surfaces
  • Modifying objects in 3D space
  • Editing solids
  • Creating sections, camera perspectives, and animations
  • Working with point clouds
  • Converting 3D objects
  • Setting up a rendering with materials and lights
  • Creating 2D drawings from 3D models
  • Working with the User Coordinate System

Prerequisites:

Before taking this course, students need to have a good working skill level in the AutoCAD software. A minimum of 80 hours of work experience with the AutoCAD software is recommended.

Introduction to AutoLISP

Duration: 3 days

This training is designed for advanced AutoCAD users requiring automating CAD process and/or programatically analysing & changing directly AutoCAD DWG database.
